What My Luke 13 Moment Is Teaching Me
There are seasons in life when we don’t realize how much we’re carrying until we finally stop long enough to let God meet us there.
Recently, I have been walking through a new season of uncertainty. As I find myself living out a Luke 13 moment, I am learning again what it means to place my trust in God and bring my concerns to Him in prayer. As I read Luke 13, I am reminded that just as Jesus saw the woman bent beneath her burden, He sees me, knows me, and understands the burdens I carry.
When Jesus Sees Our Burdens
In Luke 13:10-13, we read about a woman who had been bent over for eighteen years. We aren’t told her name. We aren’t given all the details of her struggle. We simply know she carried that burden for a very long time.
When Jesus saw her, He called her forward.
He didn’t overlook her pain.
Nor did He rush past her struggle.
Instead, He saw her.
Then He spoke words that changed everything:
“Woman, you are freed from your sickness.”
Healing, Faith, and Trust
As I reflected on this passage, I began thinking about healing and faith.
Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus healing those who came to Him. Matthew tells us that He healed “all who were sick.” Luke records that people brought their loved ones to Him and He healed them. Large crowds followed Him, and He healed them all. We do not find Jesus turning away someone who sincerely came to Him seeking healing in faith.
Yet we also see that Jesus did not heal every sick person in Israel during His earthly ministry. At the pool of Bethesda, He healed one man among many who were suffering. Sometimes He delayed healing, as He did with Lazarus. His ways were always purposeful, even when people did not immediately understand them.
That reminds me that faith is not simply believing God can heal. Faith is trusting Him whether healing comes instantly, gradually, through medicine, through prayer, or in ways we cannot yet see.
My Luke 13 Moment
Recently, I went before the elders of our church to be prayed over, following the encouragement found in James 5:14-15. Not because I have lost faith in medicine, but because I believe God works through both prayer and provision. As Jesus reminded us in Luke 5:31, there is a place for physicians, yet I ultimately place my trust in the Great Physician who sees every need and holds every outcome in His hands.
As I step into this Luke 13 moment, I am choosing to come forward just as that woman did. I am bringing my concerns, my fears, my questions, and my uncertainties before the Lord and trusting Him with the outcome.
What About Your Luke 13 Moment?
Maybe you are facing your own Luke 13 moment.
Perhaps it is a health challenge, a family struggle, grief, uncertainty, or a burden you have carried for years. If so, be encouraged. Jesus still sees those who feel bent beneath life’s weight. He still calls us forward. He still meets us with compassion, grace, and hope.
I choose to trust Him with the things I cannot control.
Faith wins over fear.
Hope speaks louder than worry.
And I choose to believe that even in the middle of unanswered questions, God is still writing the story.
If you’re walking through your own Luke 13 moment, we would be honored to pray for you. Feel free to share your prayer request in the comments or send us a private message. We may not have all the answers, but we know the One who does.
Let’s encourage one another, pray for one another, and trust together that God is working even when we cannot yet see the outcome.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8

We are learning, too, that trusting God doesn’t always mean we have all the answers. It means bringing our burdens to Him in prayer. It means taking that step in faith. It means simply trusting that He sees us, knows us, and understands what we are carrying.
We’d love for you to continue the journey with us.
We will share a gentle note whenever a new post goes live—no clutter, no noise—just meaningful reflections, shared moments, and encouragement for whatever season you’re walking through.
