Bundled up and bracing ourselves against a seriously cold evening, we headed downtown for two of our favorite seasonal traditions: pizza at Community Pie then the Festive Forest and EPB’s Magical Windows. Honestly, that’s a winter night done right.
After soaking in all that sparkle, it was time to warm up—and Community Pie delivered exactly what we needed. Hot, cheesy, comforting pizza on a freezing night is a small miracle, and this hit the spot. There’s something perfect about thawing out over good food while replaying the highlights of the night.
Wandering the Festive Forest
The Festive Forest never disappoints. Each tree has its own personality—some classic and elegant, others playful, meaningful, or downright creative. Walking from tree to tree felt like flipping through a living storybook, every set of lights glowing brighter against the dark sky. The cold air somehow made the lights sparkle more, and despite frozen fingers, it was impossible not to linger.
EPB’s Magical Windows: Pure Holiday Joy
Next up were EPB’s Magical Windows, which were bursting with charm. Santa’s snack shack, whimsical characters, and a delightful “misfit toy drive” scene brought out everyone’s inner kid. These displays are packed with detail—the kind where you notice something new every time you look. They feel nostalgic and joyful in the best possible way, like stepping into a holiday movie for a moment.
The Kind of Night You Remember
Yes, it was very cold. But that almost made it better. Red cheeks, deep pockets, glowing lights, and warm food—it all came together into one of those simple, memorable winter nights that captures the spirit of the season.
If you’re looking for an easy, festive evening out, bundle up, grab someone you love, wander the lights, and don’t forget the pizza and don’t forget your gloves.
