Preparing for Easter
As the seasons quietly shift, so do our hearts.
We’ve been basking in the warmth of Love Month—with glowing lights, reminders of connection, and reflections on everyday love. Now, we find ourselves being gently invited into something slower. Quieter. More intentional. This reflection continues the journey we began in our Love Month to Easter post. We shared how love leads us toward the hope of Easter. Now, we find ourselves being gently invited into something slower. Quieter. More intentional.
Not as a demand.
Not as a burden.
But as an invitation.
A Pause, Not a Performance
These forty days leading up to Easter aren’t about ritual for us. They are about intention. At its heart, it is about making space.
Space to breathe.
Space to reflect.
Space to notice what we’ve been carrying—and what we are ready to set down.
In a world that constantly asks us to hurry, produce, and push forward, this season whispers something different: slow down.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
This season invites us to step away from the noise and return to what matters most.
Following the Example of Jesus
Before His ministry began, Jesus spent forty days in the wilderness—fasting, praying, and preparing His heart for what was to come.
While we may not formally observe Lent in the traditional sense, we can still choose to honor this time as a season of preparation.
For these weeks leading to Easter, we are choosing to slow down. To fast in small ways. To make room for prayer. To prepare our hearts—just as Jesus prepared for the cross and the work ahead of Him.
Not out of obligation.
Not out of ritual.
But out of desire.
Because preparation changes us.
Noticing the Season Changing
As the weather begins to shift and hints of spring start to appear, we feel another gentle invitation to reset.
Soon, the Valentine décor will be packed away and Easter reminders will adorn the tree. The same branches. A different focus.
It’s a reminder that seasons change—but the light remains.
Outside, winter begins to loosen its grip. Longer days are coming. Warmer afternoons. Open windows. New rhythms.
Slowing down can look like:
- Sitting outside on a quiet afternoon
- Getting back to the gym and caring for our bodies
- Choosing stillness over constant noise
- Creating intentional time with God
It’s less about what we give up—and more about what we make room for.
A Gentle Invitation to Slow Down
As we move through this season together, we invite you to slow down with us.
There’s no checklist. No expectations to meet. Just space to breathe, reflect, and prepare your heart for Easter.
Because sometimes the most meaningful growth happens quietly.
And sometimes, slowing down is the most faithful step we can take.
💜 My Intention for This Season
This year, I’m choosing to give up Diet Coke.
Honestly, this one will be hard. It’s a daily habit and a comfort I truly enjoy. Letting it go will constantly remind me throughout the day to pause. This will prompt me to pray and refocus my heart.
I’m choosing to make intentional time with God each day. I want to slow down and sit in stillness. I am preparing my heart for Easter in a deeper way.
I’m also choosing to spend intentional time in prayer this season. If you need prayer, please feel free to send me a note—I would be honored to lift your request up. Yes, please pray for me.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. — Matthew 7:7
This season isn’t about perfection—it’s about making room, and I’m making room for you in prayer.
