Valentine Weekend Adventures: Spontaneous Moments & Sweet Memories 💕

A spontaneous Valentine weekend filled with laughter, road trips, Mardi Gras fun, shopping finds, and cozy rainy-day moments — proof that the sweetest memories are made in the little everyday…

Valentine weekend arrived, and it truly turned into one of those beautifully spontaneous weekends that became the sweetest memories.

Sometimes the best plans are the ones that come together at the last minute. That’s exactly where we found ourselves. We didn’t have every detail mapped out — and honestly, that was part of the magic.

And just to make things extra interesting… Valentine weekend kicked off on Friday the 13th. Some people avoid black cats and ladders, but we decided to risk it for dinner and a weekend of adventures. If anything went wrong, we were fully prepared to blame it on Jason. Thankfully, the only scary thing was how fast the weekend flew by.

Friday Night

We started the weekend with roses and dinner at Chili’s. The spice was just right on the chipotle chicken tenders. The drinks were perfectly chilled to cool things down. Good food, good conversation, and kicking off the weekend relaxed and happy was exactly what we needed.

Saturday

Saturday morning began with breakfast at Waffle House. We delivered a little Valentine surprise to our gals. It was the sweetest way to start the day. Several Waffle House patrons told us that when we walked in, we brought joy to the place, Awww. Dressed in our matching Valentine outfits with our glam bedazzled glasses. We had our biggest smiles. We must have looked like a walking Hallmark movie, lol. That same compliment followed us later at Belk’s and even at lunch! We try to share our joy, smiles, and leave a little sparkle wherever we go… mission accomplished 💖

We took a little road trip to Huntsville, Alabama after breakfast. We wanted to see our sweet friend Clover and her equally sweet husband Joe. We met Clover when I was teaching line dance at PBR. Since then, she has grown into an amazing dancer. She has also become an even greater friend. She truly means so much to us. Cheering her on as a Rocket City Starlet made the day even more memorable.

The parade was full of color, music, and excitement — and wow, we caught LOTS of beads. And no… we didn’t have to do anything to get them. 😉 Anyone who knows my Momma knows she’s a total cutie-patootie diva. People just can’t help but notice her wherever she goes.

We loved spending time with our sweet friend and her sweet husband. We also enjoyed hanging out with some of the Rocket City Starlets before heading home. Of course, no trip to Huntsville was complete without a little shopping. Belk’s and HomeGoods were calling our names, and we happily answered. Mom scored two beautiful pairs of heels at Belk’s. One is a stunning black pair accented with a jewel that matches the jewel she is. The other is a gorgeous red pair that’s as spicy as she is. I also found two blouses that definitely say me — one white and one black. For one of the only times ever, the two HomeGoods we visited came up empty. It’s hard to beat our HomeGoods in Chattanooga!

Early in the day mom scored us last-minute reservations. We remembered it as the place with the best steak medallions and ribs ever — Tony Roma’s. The brand new one in Kimball, TN. We were so excited and already planning what we were going to order.

Now for the Saturday night plot twist…

After an epic fail and over an hour wait for our food, we finally had to give up. We realized we were not going to eat anything other than bread. Let’s just say both times our food came out, it came out cold. We ended up at the place everyone wants to go on Valentine’s Day. It was McDonald’s 😂. Yes, it was exactly as you imagine. It was awful. We were excited to finally get a cup of coffee. Halfway down the interstate, we discovered they did not put the 5 shots of cream we ordered in the coffee. They also left it out of the bag, ugh! But we made it home safely and didn’t let dinner steal our joy that we had all day.

Sunday

Sunday turned into a rainy, slow-down kind of day. After a powerful message at church, we stopped at Hardee’s. We picked up breakfast to take home and then fixed ourselves a mimosa. This helped us fully embrace the rainy day. The rest of the afternoon was filled with warm pajamas and cozy blankets. We enjoyed a crackling fire, lazy naps, and some Olympic coverage. We also caught up on devotions. It was the perfect way to wrap up a full and joy-filled weekend.

No matter what the days brought, we chose joy, laughter, and making moments together. 💕
