As much as we love to travel, there is just no mattress like the one at home. 😌 We both woke up with a bit of a headache, so we slept in — and honestly, it was just what we needed.
Once we finally got moving, we headed downtown Milledgeville for brunch at a little spot called The Velvet Elvis. We were their first patrons of the day… well, second if you count the unexpected little flyer already inside. 🫣
Let’s just say there was a bit of excitement in the air — and we still couldn’t tell if it was a bird or a bat. Either way, I was committed to my must-have Bloody Mary (priorities, friends 🍹). It didn’t bother us one bit, but sweet Snooky — the bartender — insisted on not charging us for our meal. Bless her heart… she definitely earned a very good tip. 💖
While we were there, we chatted with Snooky and another young lady who is studying to become a psych nurse. Oh my goodness… the stories she shared about the historic Central State Hospital were something else.
Of course, that made us even more curious, so we decided to go find the old asylum grounds. It took a little while to find it, but wow — it truly feels like an abandoned town. You definitely get a spooky vibe driving through there. However, I can only imagine how beautiful the area must have been in its prime.
Security was doing their job and kindly reminded us to stay on the sidewalk, so we respected that and took it all in from a distance. Still… it was a very eerie feeling.
From there, we made a quick stop at the Belk in Milledgeville (much smaller than expected) and then headed back to the hotel to rest and get ready for the evening.
Once we got our glam on, it was off to Dogwood Farm — and oh my goodness, the venue was gorgeous and the bride was absolutely stunning. Such a sweet, beautiful wedding. 💍✨ We had the best time visiting with some of Mom’s old neighbors.
Now we are back at the Fairfield by Marriott Inn, officially in chill mode and soaking in the memories from a very full day. 💕
More memories & moments coming soon…

I was elated to see y’all at Robert and Carlie’s wedding this past weekend. You two were the first hugs I received right after the ceremony and as Mother of the Bride, I sure needed them.❤️ I wish we had more time together but so thankful for the moments we shared. I’m happy to hear y’all made it home safely.
I so enjoy your posts and blogs…keep them coming. Y’all inspire me every day! Much love for y’all, Michelle
