The weekend arrived with a blustery, snowy morning — the kind where the world feels quieter and staying home feels like a gift. A light blanket of snow covered the yard, the sky hung low and gray, and everything outside seemed to slow down.
Inside, though, we were wide awake and ready to get things done.
Saturday: Snow Outside, Deep Cleaning Inside
With the wind swirling beyond the windows, we turned our attention to the house. Baseboards were cleaned, cabinets wiped down, and the leather couch got some well-deserved attention — cleaned and conditioned until it looked refreshed and ready for many more cozy nights.
The carpets didn’t escape either. They were vacuumed, cleaned, and then vacuumed again, because sometimes once just isn’t enough. There’s something deeply satisfying about knowing the house is truly clean from corner to corner.
After hours of cleaning, we realized it was well past lunchtime. A late lunch was definitely earned — good food, good drinks, and a chance to sit down and relax for a bit.
The “Quick” Walmart Stop
Fueled by that late lunch, we made what was supposed to be a quick trip to Walmart. Of course, we went in for just a couple of things… and walked out with several bags.
No snacks this time — but we did come home with a few new plants, including a pineapple plant, along with some Valentine’s items and new throw pillows to freshen up the house.
Planting After the Shopping
Once everything was unpacked, we turned our attention to the new plants. Out came the pots and soil, and the kitchen counter became our planting station. There’s something comforting about repotting — fresh soil, happy roots, and the promise of growth, even while winter is still in full swing outside.
Yes, it made a mess. And yes, it was completely worth it.
By the end of the day, the house was cleaner, the plants were settled, errands were done, and we were tired in the best possible way. We expected to pay for all that hard work the next day.
Sunday: A Slower, Softer Morning
Sunday surprised us. Instead of feeling worn out, we woke up feeling better than expected. The morning unfolded slowly at home — quiet, cozy, and unhurried.
Eventually, we headed out for Waffle House, one of those simple comforts that never disappoints. Warm food, familiar faces, and a relaxed start to the day set the tone perfectly.
From there, we made our way to church, grounding ourselves for the week ahead and giving thanks for health, home, and the gift of time together.
Back Home to Comfort
Once back home, the rest of the day gently fell into place. A pot of warm tomato soup simmered on the stove, filling the house with comfort. We did a little more cleaning — nothing rushed — and spent some time making lists for the week ahead.
And yes… there was a nap. The cozy, well-earned kind that comes when the house is quiet and everything feels settled.
A Weekend Well Spent
As January came to a close and we stepped into February — the month of love, the weekend felt like a gentle transition. The house was warmer, the spaces refreshed, and the days softened by togetherness. Even in the heart of winter, there was comfort, care, and love woven into the ordinary moments.
These are the days that quietly become memories.
These are the moments we treasure most.
And they are exactly what Mom and Me Moments are all about — loving where we are, who we’re with, and the simple beauty of life shared together. 💙❄️❤️
