Some mornings start before you’re ready for them.
This was one of those mornings.
Even in hard moments—like early morning doctor visits and difficult decisions—we’re learning how to find joy in the smallest, most unexpected ways.
Up before the sun, heading into an orthopedic appointment with mom, already knowing what was coming—or at least knowing we were about to talk through it all. Shots. Gel. Even the word replacement being mentioned.
Not exactly the kind of conversation you want first thing in the morning.
Everything felt a little heavier.
A little quieter.
The kind of morning where you’re just trying to get through it.
But on the way there, we drove through the Brainerd tunnels.
And just like always—it made us think of Popsi and Grandmother.
He used to honk the horn going through there… every single time.
So now we do it too.
Just a few quick honks, carrying on something small that meant something to him and us.

Most of the time, no one joins in.
