🌿 What We’re Letting Go of This Season

As Easter approaches, we’re choosing to prepare our hearts as Jesus did—through reflection, release, and making room for what truly matters.

This time of year has a way of gently asking us a question:

What are you carrying that you don’t need to carry anymore?

After learning to slow down and make space, we often find ourselves facing something deeper. When we finally pause long enough, we begin to notice what has been weighing on us.

And sometimes, the most faithful step forward is simply letting go.

For us, this season has gently reminded us to loosen our grip on the small things. These are the things that quietly fill our days. We need to trust God with what we’re holding.

Before we can truly release what we carry, we have to slow down enough to notice it. In our previous reflection, we discussed learning to slow down. We talked about how stillness prepares our hearts for what God plans to do next.

Letting Go Isn’t Losing

We often think of “giving something up” as loss. But what if it’s actually about freedom?

Letting go isn’t punishment.
It isn’t performance.
It isn’t about proving anything.

It’s about making room.

Room for peace.
Room for clarity.
Room for God to move in the places we’ve filled with noise, habit, or distraction.

The Things We Carry

Sometimes what we need to release isn’t physical at all.

Maybe it’s:

  • A habit that no longer serves us
  • Worry that keeps us up at night
  • Comparison that steals our joy
  • Busyness that leaves no room for stillness
  • The pressure to be everything for everyone

This season invites us to notice these things—not with shame, but with honesty.

Because awareness is the first step toward freedom.

It’s often in the stillness that clarity begins to surface. In the next reflection, we will share about finding God in the quiet moments. We create space to breathe and listen. In these moments, we begin to notice where God has been gently at work all along.

Making Room for What Matters

When we release something, we don’t create emptiness—we create space.

And space is where growth begins.

Scripture reminds us:

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

Letting go allows us to place what we’re carrying into God’s hands instead of gripping it ourselves.

It’s less about what we give up—and more about what we make room for.

A Gentle Reflection

As we move through these weeks leading to Easter, here are a few questions to sit with:

  • What feels heavy right now?
  • What am I holding onto out of habit or fear?
  • What might God be inviting me to release?

There is no perfect answer. No checklist to complete.

Just an open invitation.

Letting Go and Letting God

Sometimes, the most powerful act of faith is quiet surrender.

Not dramatic.
Not loud.
Just steady.

A daily decision to loosen our grip.

And trust.

Because the love that carried the cross can certainly carry what we’re holding.
